HC Deb 01 August 1883 vol 282 cc1294-5
MR. HEALY

I wish to ask why it is that the Constabulary and Police Administration (Ireland) Bill is not yet printed? Leave was obtained the other night to introduce the Bill, and when the Chief Secretary proposed to introduce it on Friday night last he had, a draft of it before him. It is now Wednesday, and surely sufficient time has elapsed to have it printed. We know, of course, that the Government intend to abandon the Bill; but although it is to be abandoned, surely it ought to be printed, as leave has been obtained to introduce it. In the absence of the Chief Secretary, I would ask the Attorney General for Ireland to explain the matter.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. PORTER)

I am not able to give any information in reference to the matter at all.

MR. HEALY

I would ask the noble Lord.

LORD RICHARD GROSVENOR

I am not in a position to give any information.
