O'BRIENasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, With what object the police have been questioning the evicted tenants of Lord Cloncurry, at Murroe, as to the terms they were willing to offer for reinstatement; and, whether these inquiries have any connection with the reported transfer of the evicted farms to the Land Corporation of Ireland?
§ MR. TREVELYANSir, some inquiries were made for the purpose of ascertaining the views of the people, and aiding, if possible, a settlement of the dispute between the landlord and his tenants. These inquiries had no connection whatever with the Land Corporation of Ireland.
