HC Deb 09 April 1883 vol 277 c1820
MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, When the Annual Account of the National School Teachers (Ireland) Pension. Fund, now overdue, will be presented?

MR. COURTNEY

Sir, the details required by the 5th section of the National School Teachers (Ireland) Act of 1879 are included in the Annual Account of the Pension Fund, certified by the Comptroller and Auditor General, and laid before Parliament. In order to avoid the multiplication of Returns, the Treasury decided that the details in question should not be presented in duplicate. As, however, experience has shown that the Annual Account of the Pension Fund cannot be rendered, audited, and presented within three months of the close of the year, it will be necessary to lay before Parliament a Minute under the Act 32 & 33 Vict., c. 86, discontinuing the Return under the National School Teachers Act "as containing information that is contained in another Account laid before Parliament;" and this I will do forthwith.
