THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONThere has not been any Correspondence with the General Officer Commanding in South Africa on the subject of the deserters taking part in the disturbances in Southern Bechuanaland; but with regard to the general question of deserters from the British Army in South Africa, the General Officer Commanding was authorized in 1881 to increase the reward for their apprehension.
