HC Deb 26 October 1882 vol 274 c175
MR. FRASER-MACKINTOSH

asked the Lord Advocate, Whether, in connection with certain civil proceedings, soldiers have been ordered to the Isle of Skye; and, if so, will he explain the circumstances which have called forth a step so exceptional?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. B. BALFOUR)

Sir, we have, as yet, only received brief telegraphic messages regarding this matter. Until the full official Report, which has been ordered, has been received, the Government will not be in a position to decide upon the steps most proper to be taken for the vindication of the law in the Island referred to.
