asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he has caused inquiries to be instituted into the statements made by the convict Fury, who was executed at Durham on Tuesday last, as to the treatment he experienced in convict prisons?

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT

, in reply, said, he had caused inquiry to be made in this matter, and he was satisfied—as might have been expected to be the case—that these allegations were entirely unfounded and untrue.
