HC Deb 18 May 1882 vol 269 c950
MR. AINSWORTH

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, If he will introduce a Clause in the Ballot Act Continuance Bill extending the Act to all elections for municipal, poor law, and local purposes, as well as to Parliamentary elections?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

My hon. Friend seems to overlook the fact that the Bill, as amending and continuing the Act of 1872, provides for municipal elections. As to applying the ballot to Poor Law elections, it is difficult to do so while the system of plural voting is in force at these elections.
