§ MR. SUMMERSasked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether his attention has been called to the adulteration of American cotton imported into this Country; and, whether he has taken, or intends to take, any action with regard to it?
§ MR. CHAMBERLAINSir, my attention has been called to this subject through statements made in the newspapers, but not by any communications from parties interested in the matter. As far as I have been able to ascertain, I do not think it would be advisable for the Government to interfere or take any action.
