HC Deb 02 May 1882 vol 268 c1935
MR. SIDNEY HERBERT

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If his attention has been called to the following statement in the "Times" of the 1st instant:— The sub-offices and haggard of Jeremiah Doherty, a tenant on the estate of Mr. N. Buckley, near Mitchelstown, were destroyed by fire a few nights ago. Seven young pigs were lost in the flames, and a brood mare was rescued with difficulty. Doherty was suspected of having paid his rent. Three years' rent is reported to be due by some of the tenants on the property; and, whether any person or persons have been arrested for this crime?

MR. W. E. FORSTER,

in reply, said, that he had no information as to the statement referred to by the hon. Gentleman.
