§ MR. HEALYasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If he can state the total number of persons arrested in 1866, and the total number of persons from the date of the first arrest in 1881, to the corresponding date in 1882?
§ MR. W. E. FORSTER, in reply, said, he was not able to give the exact number of arrests in 1866; but, as he supposed the object of the hon. Member was to compare the number of that year with that of the past year, he could give him some information which would assist him. From the 19th of February, 1866, to the 1st of March, 1867, the arrests were 961. Between the same dates in 1881 and 1882 respectively the number was 858, 15 of which were re-arrests, making a net total of 843.
§ MR. HEALYasked when the Return he had moved for, and which had been 286 promised by the right hon. Gentleman, would be forthcoming?
§ MR. W. E. FORSTERsaid, he did not remember the promise; but he would refer to the Motion of the hon. Member.
§ SIR WILFRID LAWSONasked if the occupation of the "suspects" would be stated in the Return?
§ MR. W. E. FORSTERsaid, that would be by no means an easy Return to make.
