HC Deb 30 March 1882 vol 268 c292
CAPTAIN PRICE

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, What is to be the speed of the vessels of the "Satellite" class now building, and for what purpose are they intended; and, have any of this class been tested for stability; and with what result?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, the estimated speed of the Satellite class is 11 knots, and this they will doubtless realize. They were designed as an improvement on the Cormorant, in respect that they have much more accommodation and two more guns, and that they have a steel deck protecting their engines and boilers. No vessel of this class has yet been inclined; but there are no apprehensions as to their stability.
