HC Deb 30 March 1882 vol 268 cc312-3
MR. T. A. DICKSON

asked the Prime Minister, If the Government would, during the Recess, take into consideration the question of arrears of rent in Ireland, and on the re-assembling of Parliament propose some scheme by which, that serious embarrassment in the working of the Land Act might be removed, and tenants saved from eviction?

M. GLADSTONE

Sir, I can assure my hon. Friend that the question of arrears, in all its gravity and difficulty, will be carefully considered during the Recess. It would not be possible for me to pledge myself to more than that at the present moment.
