MR. REDMOND

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether the case of Mr. James Holden, at present in Kilmainham Prison, has yet been reconsidered; and, whether, in view of the fact that all the prisoners from his neighbourhood have been released, and that the district is peaceable, he can now recommend his discharge?

Sir, James Holden's case has been reconsidered; but His Excellency found himself unable at present to order his release.

asked the right hon. Gentleman to answer the second part of the Question.

, in reply, said, that he had never been accustomed to interfere with regard to the discretion of the Lord Lieutenant.
