MR. DICK-PEDDIEasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, If he will state what is the amount of accumulated funds in the hands of the Trustees of the National Gallery of Scotland; and, whether it is in the power of the Trustees to apply these funds to the purchasing of works of art?
§ MR. COURTNEYThe accumulated funds in the hands of the Board of Manufactures, who have charge of the Scotch National Gallery, amount to about £42,000, having risen to that amount from about £30,000 in 1869. The Board have power, with Treasury consent, under Section 2 of the Act 10 & 11 Vict. c. 91, to apply these funds to the purchase of objects calculated to aid education in the Fine Arts.
