HC Deb 09 June 1882 vol 270 c664
MR. ARTHUR ARNOLD

asked the Chairman of Committees, Whether he would allow a week to elapse between the Notice of Motion and his intended Amendment to Standing Order 167 and the discussion of that Amendment?

MR. LYON PLAYFAIR

said, that the House would remember that Order 167 was referred to a Select Committee, and that the Select Committee had reported upon it. He had thought it desirable to deal with the matter in a Bill; but the Government did not share his opinion. He had been in communication with the noble Lord who occupied a similar position to himself in "another place" on the subject, and in the event of his bringing forward his Motion he would willingly accede to the request of his hon. Friend.
