ARTHUR O'CONNORasked the Secretary of State for India, Whether he will lay upon the Table a Copy of the Financial Despatch, of the 21st July 1881, to the Government of India relating to the Bombay Civil Fund, together with a statement showing the assets and liabilities of the Fund; the number of the present beneficiaries, and the nature of their claims; the nature and amount of the contributions received from all sources during the last five years; the nature and amount of all outgoings during the same period; the number of present subscribers; the probable amount of receipts during the next year; and the probable addition to the beneficiaries in number and amount during the next year?
THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONSir, there will be no objection to lay upon the Table a copy of the despatch in question, together with a statement showing the assets and liabilities of the Fund as on the 1st of April, 1875—the date of the last valuation—which will show the nature and amount of the contributions from all sources. The par- 1785 ticulars required for the last five years can only be obtained from India after considerable delay.
§ MR. ARTHUR O'CONNORsaid, that, in the absence of the information respecting the contributions of the last five years, he should feel it his duty to oppose the Bombay Civil Fund Bill.
