HC Deb 04 July 1882 vol 271 c1386
MR. PASSMORE EDWARDS

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he is aware that the County Court Judge who sits at Rochester commences each sitting at eleven o'clock, and rises shortly after one o'clock to catch the train to go home in a remote part of Kent; whether he is aware that these unusually short sittings cause delay and expense to parties attending the Court; and, whether he will inquire into the matter, with a view to obviate the grievance complained of?

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT,

in reply, said, the Home Office had no authority over the County Court Judges; but if the hon. Member would put the statement into the form of a complaint, he would forward it to the Lord Chancellor.
