HC Deb 17 February 1882 vol 266 c980
MR. BIGGAR

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, On what grounds is Mr. Charles O'Beirne still retained in Galway Prison, he having been committed on 3rd June last, with a number of others, some of them being charged with more serious offences than he was, and while others have been discharged, Mr. O'Beirne has not?

MR. W. E. FORSTER

, in reply, said, the reason why Mr. O'Beirne had not been released was that he refused to sign a promise to be of good behaviour. That was why he was retained when others were set free. He should add that Mr. O'Beirne had never made any application to be released.
