HC Deb 13 February 1882 vol 266 c492
SIR HENRY HOLLAND

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether negotiations are going on for the settlement of the Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, Fishery question?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

Her Majesty's Charge d'Affaires was instructed to request the United States Government to favour Her Majesty's Government with any suggestions they might have to offer with a view to avoid the recurrence of disputes between British and American fishermen similar to those which occurred at Fortune Bay; but no reply has yet been received from the United States Government.
