asked the Secretary of State for War, If he has sent out instructions to have any special Report made as to the merits of the Moncreiff Battery, as exemplified in the recent bombardment?

MR. CHILDERS

Yes, Sir; immediately after the bombardment I sent an Engineer officer to Alexandria to report in detail on any matters arising out of it from which we might derive instruction, and his attention was specially directed to the Moncreiff Battery.
