HC Deb 14 August 1882 vol 273 cc1684-5
MR. R. N. FOWLER

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether Her Majesty's Government have received information to the effect that many of the chiefs and headmen in John Dunn's district of Zululand have complained that he collected taxes in the Queen's name, and gave them to understand that the money was sent to the authorities at Pietermaritzburg; and, whether he will cause inquiry to be made into the matter?

MR. EVELYN ASHLEY,

in reply, said, they had forwarded to Sir Henry Bulwer the reports in the papers sent in to the Colonial Office making the statement as to John Dunn.
