SEXTONasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Under what circumstances, upon what evidence, and on what authority, the Irish Local Government Board have dissolved the Carrick- on- Suir Board of Guardians, and appointed Vice Guardians to act instead; and, whether he will lay upon the Table Copies of any letters and other official documents on the subject?
§ MR. TREVELYANThe Local Government Board have been obliged to dissolve the Carrick- on- Suir Board of Guardians and appoint Vice Guardians to manage the affairs of the Union, because, through the default of the Board of Guardians, their duties have not been duly and effectually discharged according to the intention of the Acts in force for the relief of the destitute poor in Ireland. In dissolving the Board of Guardians the Local Government Board acted under the authority of Section 18 of 10 Vic. c. 31. If the hon. Member moves for the Correspondence he can have it.
