§ MR. LABOUCHEREasked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether there is any truth in the statement contained in a telegram from Constantinople, which appeared in the "Times" of Wednesday last, that the Porte is raising money upon the security of the Egyptian Revenues; and, if so, whether the Powers, under existing circumstances, recognise these Revenues as chargeable in that manner?
§ SIR CHARLES W. DILKEWe have received no official information with regard to the report mentioned by my hon. Friend. The matter has not been brought before the Powers; but Her Majesty's Government are of opinion that such charges would not be justified.
