HC Deb 03 April 1882 vol 268 c545
MR. SCHREIBER

asked the Postmaster General, Whether the approaching Bank Holiday on Easter Monday will be observed as a Sunday in the Post Offices of the United Kingdom?

MR. FAWCETT

Sir, in reply to the hon. Member, I have to state that, following the rule which has been hitherto adopted with regard to Bank holidays, Easter Monday will not be observed as a Sunday in the post offices of the United Kingdom. With the view, however, of meeting the case as far as public convenience admits, orders have already been issued that the staff shall be given as much relief as may be found practicable.
