who had the following Notice on the Paper:—To ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether there has been any correspondence between Her Majesty's Government and the Italian Government with regard to Tripoli; and, if so, whether that correspondence bears upon the alleged communications by Lord Salisbury with reference to the occupation of Tripoli by Italian forces as compensation for the entry of France upon Tunis? said, he wished to alter the second part of the Question, and to ask, If there was any record in the Foreign Office of those alleged communications by Lord Salisbury in reference to the occupation of Tripoli?

Sir, I will answer the Question as placed on the Paper; but I must ask my hon. Friend not to ask Questions of which no Notice has been given.

I will answer it. No correspondence has taken place between Her Majesty's Government and that of Italy with regard to Tripoli.
