HC Deb 19 May 1881 vol 261 c814
SIR HENRY HOLLAND

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether it is true that the Commissioners have refused to enter the Transvaal territory until the guns taken at Potchefstroom have been restored; and whether they have taken this step under instructions from the Secretary of State?

MR. GRANT DUFF

Sir, in consequence of the want of telegraphic communication and for other reasons, it was decided more than a month ago that the Commission should for the present sit at Newcastle, in Natal, and we have heard nothing whatever about any proposal to change the place of meeting.
