asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, What further information, if any, has been received by the Government as to the present state of the negotiations now pending between the Cape Government and the Basutos?

MR. GRANT DUFF

Sir, the news from Basutoland is conflicting; but here is the latest telegram, received On Saturday evening from Sir Hercules Robinson— 14th.—General Clarke telegraphs on 12th:—'Have fairly reliable information that Basutos were to have held large meeting yesterday (11th) at Letsea's, to consider terms of Governor's award.
