HC Deb 06 May 1881 vol 260 cc1957-8
MR. JACKSON

asked Mr. Attorney General, Whether the provisions of "The Crossed Cheques Act 1876," as regards the crossing of cheques, are applicable to the bearer coupons issued with the bonds of Corporations such as Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Nottingham?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir HENRY JAMES)

said, the hon. Member had only within the last few minutes furnished him with a copy of the coupon; and, as far as he was able to form an opinion at so short a notice, the coupon did not come within the Act, and would not be protected by the provision referred to.
