HC Deb 03 May 1881 vol 260 c1662
MAJOR NOLAN

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If he has given or will give directions to provide employment on a moderate scale, between the middle of May and the middle of July, in the county of Galway, particularly in the neighbourhoods of Loughrea, Athenry, Tuam, Dughterard, Clifden, Cort, and Ballinasloe?

MR. W. E. FORSTER

I only saw the hon. and gallant Gentleman's Question last night. I have communicated with the Vice President of the Local Government Board, and I will give the hon. and gallant Gentleman as much information as I can on the subject if he will postpone his Question. I must at once state, however, that it is not in the power of the Chief Secretary to give employment to everyone who is out of it.
