HC Deb 02 May 1881 vol 260 c1534
SIR HENRY PEEK

asked Mr. Attorney General, Whether the substitution of suzerainty for the sovereignty which was proclaimed in the Transvaal will disturb the rights of appeal from the courts of the territory to Her Majesty in Council?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir HENRY JAMES)

According to the terms of agreement entered into by Sir Evelyn Wood, the Transvaal will have complete self-government in its own internal affairs; and as this includes the holding of Courts, the right of appeal to Her Majesty in Council will be entirely gone.
