HC Deb 28 March 1881 vol 260 c10
MR. W. H. JAMES

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, If he can state to the House whether any information has been received as to any modification of the terms of peace to be offered to the Basutos by the Cape Government?

SIR WILFRID LAWSON

asked, Whether any information had been received as to the reported six hours' fighting, in which General Carrington was said to have been wounded?

MR. GRANT DUFF

Sir, my hon. Friend will, perhaps, allow me to answer his Question, and to tell him that we have received no information upon that subject; but Sir Hercules Robinson has told us that he has again urged Lerothodi to place himself unreservedly in his hands. As to the reported fighting, I believe the telegram to be correct.
