HC Deb 02 June 1881 vol 261 c1861
MR. FINDLATER

asked Mr. Attorney General for Ireland, If he is aware of the very serious inconvenience and delay caused in the Court of Bankruptcy in Ireland by reason of the inability of the existing staff to dispose of the business; and, if the Government are taking any, and, if so, what steps to appoint a successor to the late chief clerk of the court, who died over three months ago?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. Law)

Sir, I am aware that serious inconvenience and delay has been caused in the Court of Bankruptcy in Ireland, owing to the fact that there is no power at present of appointing a successor to the late chief clerk. I have, however, given Notice of a Bill to amend the law relating to the official staff of the Court, one of the objects of which is to meet the inconvenience to which the hon. Member has drawn attention.
