HC Deb 14 July 1881 vol 263 c851
MR. O'CONNOR POWER

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If his attention has been called to the resolutions passed by the boards of guardians in Mayo in reference to the inability of poor farmers indebted for seed to pay the seed rate; and, if he will state what are the intentions of the Government on the subject?

MR. W. E. FORSTER,

in reply, said, that he had received several resolutions from Boards of Guardians in Mayo and other parts of Ireland with reference to the inability of poor farmers to pay the instalments of the seed loan. Independent of these resolutions, the Local Government Board were carefully looking into the matter, and he should to-day give Notice of a short Bill enabling the Board in certain cases to allow a postponement to be made.
