THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONSir, the question of re-organizing the Engineering branch of the Public Works Department in India is now receiving the consideration of the Home Government, and due attention will be given to representations which have been made in respect to the pension rules and to the position generally of the officers of the Department. The question will form the subject of communications between the Secretary of State and the Government of India, and when a 510 scheme has been settled there will be no objection to lay the same before the House.
