asked the Lord Advocate, Whether the scheme for the re-organisation of the General Register House, Edinburgh, will come into operation before the close of the present financial year; and, if not, at what date?

, in reply, said, that it was recommended by the Departmental Committee that the new scheme should take effect from the commencement of the next financial year; and he had no doubt that that recommendation would be given effect to.
