HC Deb 11 February 1881 vol 258 cc745-6

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Lord Advocate be a Member of the Select Committee on Married Women's Property (Scotland) Bill."— (Mr. Anderson.)

SIR DAVID WEDDERBURN

said, he objected to the nomination of the Committee. It was only proposed to nominate one hon. Member whose name appeared on the back of the Bill. He would move the adjournment of the debate.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Debate be now adjourned."—(Sir David Wedderburn.)

MR. ANDERSON

hoped the hon. Member for Haddington would not press the Motion. He intended to give Notice to add to the Committee on a future day the name of the hon. Member, and also of one or two other hon. Gentlemen. He hoped, under those circumstances, the hon. Member would withdraw the Motion for adjournment.

SIR DAVID WEDDERBURN

intimated that he would not press the Motion.

Motion, by leave, withdrawn.

Original Question put, and agreed to.

Mr. ANDERSON, Mr. ARMITSTEAD, Mr. JAMES CAMPBELL, Mr. COCHRANE-PATRICK, Sir ALEXANDER GORDON, Sir JOHN HAY, Mr. STAVELEY HILL, Sir HERBERT MAXWELL, Mr. NORTHCOTE, Sir. PEDDLE, Mr. FRANCIS POWELL, Mr. SOLICITOR GENERAL for ENGLAND, Mr. WEBSTER, and Mr. WILLIAMSON nominated other Members of the said Committee.
