§ MR. METGEasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If it is the case that while in England out-door relief may be granted to the family of any person confined in a gaol, in Ireland there is no such power; whether such want of power to grant outdoor relief does not arise from the provisions of the Act of 1847; and, whether, if this is the case, he will take any steps to amend the provisions of that Act?
§ MR. W. E. FORSTER,in reply, said, he had only seen the hon. Member's Question that morning, and he should ask him to postpone it until he had ascertained what was the law on the point.
