HC Deb 03 February 1881 vol 258 c55
MR. METGE

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If it is the case that while in England out-door relief may be granted to the family of any person confined in a gaol, in Ireland there is no such power; whether such want of power to grant outdoor relief does not arise from the provisions of the Act of 1847; and, whether, if this is the case, he will take any steps to amend the provisions of that Act?

MR. W. E. FORSTER,

in reply, said, he had only seen the hon. Member's Question that morning, and he should ask him to postpone it until he had ascertained what was the law on the point.
