HEALYasked the Secretary to the Treasury, If he will state the name and number of public buildings in addition to the clubs or institutions for which inclosures and ground have been granted in Phœnix Park, the dates at which the permission was granted, and the acreage from which the public are now shut out in each case?
§ LORD FREDERICK CAVENDISHSir, there are nine inclosures in the Phoenix Park, containing altogether about 400 acres, all of them, with the exception of the Royal Zoological Gardens, used for official purposes, in addition to the inclosures for cricket clubs, as to which I have already answered a Question by the hon. Member. All of these inclosures were in existence in 1860, when the Park was transferred to the care of the Board of Works, having originally been a Royal Park under the Commissioners of Woods. I have no reason for thinking that the public have been shut out from any advantages or privileges which they formerly enjoyed.
