HC Deb 12 August 1881 vol 264 c1716
LORD ARTHUR HILL

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he is aware that there are hundreds of acres of meadow land, which are so called "Boycotted," that no one dare work on these meadows, no matter what rate of wages are offered; and, whether the Government intend to take any measures to prevent such wanton waste of property?

MR. W. E. FORSTER,

in reply, said, he was aware that there was what was called "a strike" among the agricultural labourers in certain parts of Ireland, and the Government had directed their close attention to the matter with the view of preventing any breach of the peace. He must, however, ask the noble Lord not to put general Questions on the subject, but to point to some particular case, when he should be happy to give him a precise answer.
