ANDERSONasked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, If the Colonial Office has had before it the Petition presented by him to this House, from the Committee of Inhabitants of Malta; and, whether Her Majesty's Government means to grant its prayer, or to concede to the Maltese any of those reforms recommended by Mr. Rowsell and Sir Penrose Julyan, and some of which were about to be conceded by the late Government?
§ MR. COURTNEYSir, a copy of the Petition has been obtained and is under consideration, as well as a Memorial transmitted to the Secretary of State; but it is not possible to state at present the answer which will be returned. The administrative changes recommended by Sir Penrose Julyan have been in considerable part already carried out.
