THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONSir, I did not make any particular statement on the subject, not having received information from the Government of India. I have no information as to what movements have been made by the force under the command of General Hume, and do not know whether Chaman is occupied or whether it has been strengthened. I infer, however, from the telegrams that a British force is still at Chaman.
