HC Deb 05 April 1881 vol 260 c757
ADMIRAL SIR JOHN HAY

asked the Vice President of the Council, When the Geological Surveys of England, Scotland, and Ireland will be completed?

MR. MUNDELLA

I regret that I am not in possession of the requisite data to enable me to fix a time for the completion of the Geological Survey. We have carefully gone into the Question; and, not being satisfied with the present rate of progress, we are making arrangements which we hope will hasten the completion of the work. If the right hon. and gallant Gentleman will repeat the Question later in the Session I trust I shall be in a position to give him more precise information; at any rate, I will make a statement in moving the Estimates.
