HC Deb 16 March 1880 vol 251 c1099
MR. THOMSON HANKEY

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether he has any objection to lay on the Table of the House a Return showing how he accounts for the alleged decrease of £18,000,000 in the National Debt since 1874? Hon. Members ought to have this information before the Dissolution.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER,

in reply, said, he would be perfectly ready to produce the statement. He would confer with the hon. Gentleman as to the terms of the Return, and the hon. Gentleman could then move for it.
