DILKESir, the moment the Question of the hon. and gallant Member appeared on the Paper, Her Majesty's Ambassadors at Paris and Berlin were instructed to have prepared and sent home as soon as possible a statement of the law in force in France and Germany on the points to which the hon. and gallant Member refers; and when these statements are received they shall be laid upon the Table of the House. I think it will be more convenient to adopt this course, as a translation of the laws in extenso would probably take some considerable time to prepare.
