HC Deb 20 February 1880 vol 250 cc1099-100
SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether the junior clerks retired from the War Office under the Admiralty and War Office Regulation Act of 1878, will be retired on the same amount of pension as those of the same class and service retired from the Admiralty under the same Act?

SIR HENRY SELWIN-IBBETSON

Sir, the actual amount of pension in every case depends upon the amount of salary of which an officer is in receipt at the time of his retirement, and differences in salary may give rise to differ- ences in pension as between War Office and Admiralty clerks of similar class and service. But the proportion between pension and salary will be the same in every case dealt with under the Admiralty and War Office Regulation Act of 1878.
