§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERI am sorry to say that no financial settlement has yet been arrived at. Correspondence is still going on between the Home Government and the Colonial Government on the subject. The officers of the Government who have recently been out to South Africa in order to make inquiries have just returned, and are preparing their Reports, which will be laid before the Government in a very few days. I hope, when I have occasion shortly to make a general statement on the subject, to lay the settlements on the Table.
