HC Deb 10 February 1880 vol 250 c379
MR. GREGORY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether his attention has been called to the increasing practice of carrying revolvers, and the mischief arising from it; and, whether the Government have any measure in contemplation for checking such practice by imposing a tax upon those weapons, or otherwise?

MR. ASSHETON CROSS

I am informed that the existing law is sufficiently strong to deal with this class of case. It is as necessary to have a licence to carry a pistol or revolver as to carry a gun.
