§ Resolutions [27th August] reported.
§ SIR H. DRUMMOND WOLFFasked, Whether it was the intention of the Government to make a statement with respect to affairs in the East—especially with reference to Turkey—before Parliament separated, or whether an opportunity would be given to private Members to raise the question? He had understood the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to say that such a statement would be made.
THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONsaid, that, as far as he remembered the statement made by the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, it was on some particular point; and he had promised that, before the end of the Session, either a statement would be made or Papers would be laid on the Table. He was under the impression that the Papers had been produced.
§ SIR H. DRUMMOND WOLFFNo; the Papers do not refer to the Naval Demonstration in the East.
THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONsaid, he would confer with his hon. Friend (Sir Charles W. Dilke) on the subject, and undertake that whatever promise was given would be carried out.
