CAPTAIN MILNE-HOMEasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If his attention has been drawn to a destructive disease extensively prevalent during this and last year among the salmon of certain rivers in England and Scotland; and, what steps, if any, he proposes to take to inquire into the nature and origin of the disease with the view of, if possible, checking its recurrence?
MR. ASSHETON CROSSThere is no doubt that this is a very serious matter, and I have had a specimen of one of these diseased salmon placed in the Library for the inspection of hon. Members by one of the Inspectors of Fisheries who has directed his attention specially to the subject, and I shall order an inquiry to be made into the matter with the objects indicated in the Question.
