MR. PHIPPSasked the Vice President of the Council, Whether, in consideration of the difficulty of obtaining a sufficient number of properly qualified teachers to give the necessary instruction to the sons of farmers, to enable them to avail themselves of the advantages of the education in agricultural science offered by the Science and Art Department, he proposes to take any steps to make known the intention of the Department to offer to teachers a special course of instruction in agricultural science at South Kensington this summer, provided a sufficient number of candidates apply?
§ LORD GEORGE HAMILTONSir, we propose to send a circular on the subject to all the science schools and classes in the country; and if the hon. Gentleman, as Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Central Chamber of Agriculture, would co-operate with us, I have no doubt the proposed instruction and system of aid of the Department will become widely known.
